Introduction: Kingpin came with a cool effect that reflects and stretches the current sky the map is using to make it look like a reflection outside. This is a similer effect that is used in Q3. Step 1: Look at FIG. 1, I made a quick map using the wndw33 (left) and wndw66 (right) surface properties on an alfa textured brush in the 'sprites' texture folder in a green lit room.. to show it has no effect.
First, load up the alfa texture in the 'sprites' texture folder, open the surface properties of the brush by hitting 's'. Uncheck 'alpha' and check 'wndw33' or 'wndw66' depending on which you prefer. If both are used, Kingpin will use 33 only. 33 is slightly darker than 66, but experiment with the two before releasing a map. You will need to build a window textured brush with the 'trans33' or 'trans66' property, and once again if both are used, it will only be 33. Most of the textures are in the 'pvglass' directory. 66 is less transparent so it's harder to see the effect. Add the alfa textured brush right behind it then compile and run around your enchanced window! Try changing the sky while in game to find one you like, see sky tutorial. Comments?
